Smart's first film role was for director Martin Kunert's film Campfire Tales, followed by a minor role in the 1997 film Starship Troopers as the co-pilot for (and friend of) Carmen Ibanez (Denise Richards). In 1999, Smart played the girlfriend of a popular football player (played by James Van Der Beek) in the film Varsity Blues. Also, Smart appeared in the series Felicity, as a girlfriend of Scott Foley's character. She subsequently appeared in a number of films catering to a teenage audience, many of which were successful, including Road Trip (2000) and The Butterfly Effect (2004). In 2002, she was ranked #27 in Stuff magazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" and in 2004, she was nominated for "Best Kiss" at the MTV Movie Awards for her role in Starsky & Hutch. She's been paired twice as a couple with Breckin Meyer in films, Road Trip and Rat Race.
In 2005, Smart co-starred with Ryan Reynolds in the romantic comedy film Just Friends, which had a total domestic box office gross of $32,619,761 and a total worldwide box office of $50,817,598. Smart also had a small role in the American sitcom Scrubs, playing Jamie Moyer, the wife of a coma patient, and was nicknamed TCW (Tasty Coma Wife) by J.D. and his friends. J.D. has a short relationship with her following the death of her husband. On September 1, 2006, Crank was released, in which she plays the girlfriend of the lead character, Chev (played by Jason Statham). Smart was a regular cast member in the short-lived 2006 CBS television series Smith. She also has voiced some of the characters in the animated series Robot Chicken, created by Seth Green. Smart appeared as Joy in the 2006 movie Peaceful Warrior, starring Scott Mechlowicz and Nick Nolte.
Smart was the speaker for the Heal the Bay organization; she has also worked with the Humane Society and the "Environmental Media Association", and was named one of Organic Style magazine's "Women with Organic Style" of 2004.
Smart is dating actor Branden Williams, whom she has been with for more than 13 years. Her former roommate Ali Larter appeared alongside Smart in the film Varsity Blues and modeled with her in Milan. Smart is also friends with author and animal communicator Amelia Kinkade, and was acknowledged in Kinkade's second book, The Language of Miracles. She is a former vegetarian. In a September 2008 interview, she revealed she is part Serbian on her mother's side and was critical of president Bush's foreign policies, though she didn't take sides on the 2008 election.

Kristin Laura Kreuk (born December 30, 1982) is a Canadian actress.
She is known for her roles on the Canadian television series teen soap Edgemont and on the American television series Smallville in which she starred as Lana Lang.
Kreuk was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her father, Peter Kreuk, is of Dutch descent; her mother, Deanna Che, is of Chinese descent, but was born in Indonesia; her maternal grandmother was born in Jamaica of Chinese descent. Both parents are landscape architects. She has a sister named Justine, who is about five years younger. Kreuk trained in gymnastics at the national level until high school but quit in grade 11 due to scoliosis. She attended Edith Cavell Elementary School and Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver. She had plans to study either psychology, environmental science, or forensic science at Simon Fraser University when a casting director for the CBC TV series Edgemont contacted her secondary school, looking for an exotic-looking girl to play the part of a Chinese Canadian, Laurel Yeung on the Vancouver-shot show. Kreuk's drama teacher convinced Kreuk, who had no previous acting experience other than in musicals at her high school, to audition for the role. To her surprise, she won the part.
After shooting the first season of Edgemont (a teen soap opera set at a Vancouver-area high school) and getting herself an agent, Kreuk landed the lead role of Snow White in a TV movie titled Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. The film, shot in Vancouver, also starred Miranda Richardson and was directed by Caroline Thompson. It aired on ABC on March 17, 2002.
After Snow White, Kreuk's agent sent an audition tape to screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who at the time were putting together the cast of a show they had created for the WB Network entitled Smallville. The series (which was slated to be shot in Vancouver) revolves around the life of teenager Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. Gough and Millar called Kreuk to WB's studios in Burbank, California to audition for the role of Clark Kent's love, Lana Lang. Originally, Kreuk was unsure about auditioning for Lana's role, as the character was to be a popular, gorgeous cheerleader, so she assumed that the part would be that of a shallow idiot. However, upon reading the graveyard scene from the pilot, she was so impressed that when she was offered the role, she immediately accepted. She left Smallville in the beginning of 2008, when her character leaves town. She'll be returning as a guest star for five episodes to wrap up her storyline.
In 2003, Kreuk wrapped up her role on Edgemont. In the summer of 2004, Kreuk took the role of Tenar for the Sci Fi Channel two-part miniseries Legend of Earthsea. The miniseries was filmed in Vancouver, directed by Rob Lieberman and broadcast on December 13, 2004.
The executives at Neutrogena made her the spokesmodel for their new worldwide ad campaign; in this regard Kreuk followed in the footsteps of fellow teen stars such as Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mandy Moore. In 2005, she renewed her contract with Neutrogena for another two years, making her the company's longest-serving model spokesperson.

Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American pop singer, songwriter, actor, and fashion designer.
She was raised in Florida. Moore became famous as a teenager in the early 2000s, after the release of her teen-oriented pop albums So Real, I Wanna Be with You, and Mandy Moore. She has since branched out into a film career, starring in 2002's A Walk to Remember and later appearing in the lead roles of other movies also aimed at teenage audiences. Two of Moore's later films, American Dreamz and Saved!, were satires. Her private life, including her relationships with tennis player Andy Roddick as well as with actors Wilmer Valderrama and Zach Braff, has been much discussed in the media. Moore's fifth album, Wild Hope, was released in 2007.
Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the daughter of Stacy, a former news reporter who once worked for the Orlando Sentinel, and Don Moore, a pilot for American Airlines. Moore's father is of Irish and Cherokee descent and her mother is of English and Jewish ancestry. Moore has two brothers, Scott and Kyle; she grew up in Longwood, Florida, outside of Orlando, moving there shortly after her birth because of her father's job as an airline pilot. She was raised in the Catholic religion (although she is no longer a practicing Catholic) and attended Bishop Moore High School, a Catholic school in Orlando, as well as Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs. Moore's interest in singing grew after seeing the musical Oklahoma!; she was also encouraged to perform by her maternal grandmother, who was her inspiration. Some of Moore's first public exposure occurred when she sang the national anthem at several Florida sporting events. She subsequently came to the attention of the head of A&R at Epic Records after his friend, a FedEx employee, overheard her as she sang at a recording studio. She was then signed to a record deal with the label.
